About Me

Hi, I’m Poppy!

A few questions I get asked a lot…

1. “Is that your REAL name?” – The answer is yes. It’s my REAL middle name.

2. “Were your parents hippies?” – Unfortunately they were not. My dad is the name giver of the family, and he just likes to be creative. My younger sisters are twins, and their names are Lovey and Dovey (yes, those are their real names!)

3. Can I touch your hair? – Meh…go for it.

I love young adult fiction, and am currently working on finishing my first YA manuscript.

Join me for the journey!

Hello, fellow Procrastinator. Welcome to the club LOL. I’m so bad that my writing buddy and I call ourselves “The Procrastinators–my team color is blue while hers is yellow. Good luck finishing your manuscript. Do you plan on working alone or using critique partners/beta-readers? If you find a support group, it helps keep motivation going 🙂

Thank goodness, I’m not alone! The more support I get, the better. I’m definitely planning to use crit partners/beta readers. It sounds like you’ve got some great writing buddies. Where did you find them?

I teach Creative Writing through the adult education program. On the last day of class, I mentioned the NaNo challenge to them, and Melissa, Robin (both students) wanted to work with me. We used to be a group, but Robin left suddenly–said she’s too busy to find time for writing. So now it’s down to me and Melissa. Melissa joked that for my next class, I should try and recruit people again LOL.

        Keep smiling,
        Yawatta

oops… sorry I just read that you found a crit partner match! LOL

    • Poppy says:

Yeah! Hey Tina! So excited to have someone from class checking out the blog! I have managed to find a CP, and she’s amazing. Are you searching for a CP? It can be tough, but who knows maybe you’ll connect with someone in class?????

Hi Poppy, I’ve nominated you for the beautiful blogger awards. Don’t feel obliged to participate if you don’t want to though. The rules are here – http://thewickedqueensmirror.wordpress.com/2012/11/08/beautiful-blogger-award/

  5. Hello! I nominated you for the Next Big Thing Blog Hop because I enjoy reading your posts on writing. It is a bunch of questions on a book you have written or are working on. My post is here: http://dreampunkgeek.wordpress.com/2012/11/13/next-big-thing-blog-hop/
If you are interested, just recycle the questions and answer about your own writing. 😀

  6. Hey Poppy I’ve been tagged on my WordPress blog about writing my novel. Flattered and agreed to do it. I thought it would get me to think about my novel in a different way. I have to tag 3-5 people so I thought about tagging you. Would you be interested? If so get back to me with a yay or nay at some point tomorrow. I’m going to try to post tomorrow evening French time of course. You would basically answer the same questions and tag more bloggers, putting their links, while linking back to my link. This should make an enormous change and get you some views and contact. 🙂

  7. Hey Poppy,

I just started reading some Holly Lisle stuff (just browsing for now, will be using How to Revise in a few weeks). Somehow (productive procrastination lol) ended up on YT and found one of your videos. Anyway, like your vlog & blog, so following you now. I want to get into doing videos too (super camera shy though) but this/YOU are encouraging 🙂
